Meeting and getting to know the project participants from Germany, Finland Poland and Cyprus

21st September

Meeting and getting to know the partners from the UK and Italy
Reception at school by the school management and the school inspector.
Opening program, which was designed by the students of the partner school.
Presentations of countries: Cyprus, Germany and Italy before the guests and students
First agreements for project work and decisions on individual products:

  • first discuss about using Twinspace
  • confirm the dates for the transnational meeting in Finland and the learning/ teaching activity in Germany
  • official invitations and timetables should be send fom the host as soon as possible
  • hotels for he meetings and travel arrangements were recommended
  • contents for preparing the teaching activity
  • discuss and evaluate the first products and evaluation sheets
  • share the anthem made by German children and decide upon the certificate designs offered by Poland
  • discuss the design, shape and size of our common logo
  • discuss Run for Health arrangements for each country; date, time, place, length etc.
  • discuss the format and timing of the sporty Christmas Calendar

City tour in Larnaca / tour to the fortress, a mosque and the Church of St. Lazarus

Cultural experiences of Cyprus including visiting Nicosia (capital of Cyprus)

23rd September

Meeting at school

Presentations of the countries Scotland, Finland, Poland to teachers and senior pupils

Q & A session – students could ask questions of the guests

Computer room – creating a common homepage:

  • visiting Cathy’s school website and Comenius website from former projects as examples
  • introduce WordPress as possible basis for our new website
  • all register to use WordPress
  • create the first draft of
  • learn how to publish including editing, uploading, tagging and blogging
  • collaboratively build website
  • discuss and agree upon the importance of needing parental permission to publish photos of any children
  • Cathy prepared the draft for discussion on 24th

Lunch – specialties from Cyprus (Chicken, pork, moussaka, Greek salad, rice) and with all host colleagues

Exchange of experiences – school system/curriculum in Cyprus and teaching activities/pedagogies


 24th September

School tour

Visiting teachers given a tour of school, teachers and children in action-attending/observing classes

Further work on the homepage – Detailed setting for each country:

  • further website development and training
  • edit the website after discussion of best format to suit our needs
  • agreement on web content and how it might evolve yet remain navigable and professional
  • discuss resizing images, converting to .pdf, uploading to Youtube and using embed codes. Child identity and online security including parental permission to use images discussed again. NOTE No videos of German children are to be uploaded to the website via Youtube
  • Cathy will help all participants if they need help with accessing or using the website

Visit to a typical mountain village – Lefkara

Demonstration of traditional crafts (silver jewellery, handicrafts)

Visit a small factory in which traditional sweets, Cyprus Delight, were manufactured and packaged (fruit jelly with icing sugar in various flavours)


25th September

Participation in the EU – Sport project “Move Week”

Visit the sports facilities on the beach in Larnaca

Visitors observed and joined in with the children participating in this project (beach football, beach volleyball and beach tennis)

Teachers discussed sport and the children access and attitude to it with sports’ coaches.
